My research focuses on new methods for machine understanding of language and text data. We study the use of deep neural networks and entity knowledge graphs for improving information seeking applications.
I am the lead PI for the Glasgow Representation and Information Learning Lab (GRILL). We currently have open positions for PhD Students, postdocs, and other opportunities.
I'm one of the organizers for the TREC Conversational Assistance Track (CAsT), focused on reusable benchmarks for Conversational Information Seeking.
Previously, I worked at Google Research in the Machine Intelligence research group. My research focused on relation extraction for knowledge graph completion, health knowledge discovery, and response ranking in the Google Assistant.
I completed my PhD at the Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval working with James Allan.
